Productivity for Creative purposes
Productivity helps you to be … well productive. We all need to be more productive in both our personal live and our professional lives. This is particularly true if your profession revolves around creativity or anything artistic. For example, if you are a writer, then you are among those who have artistic and creative professions. Using productivity methods and tips is highly important, as artistic types tend to wander from the subject and lose time that could be used for working.
What you need is a few tips that can help you to be more productive. While no one else can force you to use these tips, you can force yourself. Print them out and hang them by your desk. Just implementing one method each day can help you to accomplish much more than if you simply daydreamed all day. Being productive is important, and here are some ways that you can begin to see more productivity from your creative self.
First, changing your scenery can go a long way to helping you keep your mind on the task at hand. We all become somewhat bored and fall into a rut if we spend countless hours on the same task and in the same location. Consider moving from your desk to your dining room table for part of your work day. During the warmer months, consider moving outdoors to the patio. The fresh air and sunshine will help to rejuvenate you and get your creative juices flowing.
You can also try changing the tools that you are using. If you normally spend hours writing at the computer, consider taking a notebook into another room or outdoors and write in that. You can always type it up later, and the change may help you to dispel the things that were blocking your mind.
You can also try conversation to get you going. During brainstorming, our minds sometimes get so bogged with information and thoughts that we lose the one good train of thought that we had. Talking to someone, whether it is a spouse, friend, or even a child, can clear the cobwebs and help you to remember what you were aiming for with your original thought. If you are engaging in problem solving, discuss it with someone who may not be an expert. Explaining the problem to someone who needs you to provide a lot of information, for clarification, could ultimately help you to solve it by causing you to look at the problem from a different perspective.
There are other things that you could do, such as taking a coffee break, stopping for a moment to pet the dog, or anything else that you feel takes you away from work for long enough to clear your mind. The thing to remember is that all creative people get stuck in their own minds from time to time, backing up and taking a fresh new look will [always] help you to pull out of the rut.
