Self Motivation
Motivation is something that we all need from time to time. No matter what the situation, if you are having trouble performing a task, you may need motivation. This does not necessarily mean listening to a motivational speaker but instead motivating yourself to be a more productive, happier person. Self motivation is a key factor in reaching any goal, and requires you to balance your life skills in a way that will help you to accomplish the task at hand, no matter what that task may be. If you need motivation, for instance, to lose weight or perhaps to perform better at work, then you can give yourself the boost that you need to reach your ultimate goals.
First, providing incentives is a highly popular way of motivating people. You can provide an incentive for yourself, such as a new wardrobe for losing weight, or a vacation for a better performance on the job. You should also always clearly state your goals to yourself. There should be no coddling yourself with things like, “well I didn’t really mean that I would lose 20 pounds, maybe just 10”. Things like that will ultimately defeat the entire purpose of the goals that you originally set. If you have a goal in mind, write it down. Keep it where you can see it clearly and regularly. Knowing the end result will help in the overall process of reaching that goal.
Another way to stay highly motivated is to give yourself a deadline. It is a commonly known fact that most people work best under deadlines. If you have a big meeting coming up at work, for example, make that your deadline for becoming more organized and productive on the job. Tell yourself that the meeting may prove more beneficial to you in terms of the boss noticing your change.
Along the same lines as setting a deadline is considering what the end result will be. Not only should you clearly define, the outcome, you should also visualize that outcome in your mind. If you want to lose those 20 pounds, then the outcome may be feeling healthier, and looking better in your summer bikini. If you would like to finish seven tasks at day at work instead of your usual five, picture your desk would look like with more work completed. Whatever the outcome, concentrate on it daily; brand it into your mind so that you know what you are after, and you know how happy and satisfied you will be when you reach that point.
